Human Authorship Evidence Standard
HAES is the first governance doctrine built from the human outward. It fills the gap that every existing AI governance framework leaves open: the protection of the individual human creator, consultant, employee, and professional regardless of employment status, industry, or jurisdiction.
Every existing framework โ€” NIST, ISO 42001, the IIA Standards, the EU AI Act โ€” was designed to protect institutions. HAES was designed to protect the person inside them.
The Three-Prong Doctrine
01
Ownership
Establish and document that a human being made meaningful creative contributions to AI-assisted work. The proactive foundation every creator needs.
02
Defense
Protect yourself from downstream exposure. Document the human editorial judgment applied between AI output and published work.
03
Enforcement
Maintain the chain of custody on your original thinking so you have a credible basis to act when someone uses your work without permission.
The Five Elements of HAES
Each evidence package you generate contains all five elements required by the HAES documentation standard:
1
Creative Intent Statement
Your goal and the expertise you brought to the session.
2
Prompt and Input Record
The creative direction you gave the AI.
3
Output Capture
What the AI produced before your editorial judgment.
4
Edit and Decision Log
The meaningful changes you made and why.
5
Exportable Record Package
Portable PDF that belongs to you regardless of platform or subscription.
