Human Authorship Evidence Standard

The chain of custody
record that proves
you created it.

Every AI-assisted work session you have is an ownership record waiting to be documented. HAES Evidence Engine captures it automatically and packages it into a governance-standard evidence record that belongs to you — regardless of platform, subscription, or employment status.

"The burden of proof on the creator is chain of custody. HAES Evidence Engine produces that record, structured by the first governance doctrine built specifically to protect human creators, understood in the context of every major AI governance framework that matters."

What It Is

Your expertise created it.
Your documentation proves it.

Seventy three million independent workers are producing AI-assisted content right now. Every one of them is building on expertise that took years to develop. And most of them have no documented record that proves their human contribution shaped what was produced.

The US Copyright Office requires proof of human authorship. The EU AI Act requires evidence of human oversight. HIPAA requires documentation of professional judgment. Every major governance framework points toward the same need and none of them tell you how to meet it at the individual level.

HAES Evidence Engine is the tool that fills that gap. It produces a chain of custody record for your human creative contribution: timestamped, structured to the HAES governance standard, mapped to the frameworks that matter, and delivered as a portable PDF that belongs to you permanently.

The Chain of Custody
In forensic accounting and legal evidence, chain of custody is what makes a claim defensible. HAES applies that same standard to your creative work.
Before the Session
Your Creative Intent
You document what you were trying to accomplish and what professional expertise you brought. This establishes that a human being with a purpose and a perspective initiated the work.
During the Session
Your Prompts and Direction
The instructions, refinements, and redirections you gave the AI are recorded. These document the human creative direction that shaped what was produced.
The AI's Contribution
Raw Output Captured
What the AI produced before your editorial judgment is preserved separately. This creates the baseline that makes your human contribution visible by contrast.
Your Editorial Judgment
What You Changed and Why
The gap between raw output and final work is where your authorship lives. Your editorial decisions, additions, rejections, and redirections are documented here.
The Evidence Package
Portable, Timestamped, Yours
All four elements are packaged into a governance-standard PDF with a session integrity hash. It downloads to your device and belongs to you regardless of what platform you used or what subscriptions you maintain.
How It Works

Under two minutes.
After any AI session.

01
Paste Your Session
Copy your conversation from Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or any AI platform and paste it into the Evidence Engine. Works on mobile Safari, Chrome, any browser.
02
AI Analyzes and Pre-Fills
Claude analyzes your session and pre-populates every HAES field: your creative intent, your prompts, the AI output, your editorial decisions, and applicable frameworks.
03
You Verify and Generate
Review the pre-filled fields, correct anything, add anything personal Claude could not infer, and hit Generate. Your HAES evidence package downloads as a professional PDF instantly.
Governance Framework Coverage

Every framework points here.
None of them got here first.

Every major AI governance framework was designed to protect institutions. Not one was designed to protect the human. HAES fills that gap — and maps your evidence package to every framework that matters.

US Copyright Office
Requires human authorship proof but defines no documentation methodology
NIST AI RMF
Governs organizations. No standard for individual creators.
EU AI Act Art. 14
Requires human oversight evidence. Defines no documentation format.
ISO 42001
Organizational AI management. No individual practitioner standard.
IIA Three Lines Model
Governs accountability to the board. No line for the human practitioner.
HIPAA / HHS AI
Requires human professional judgment documentation. Provides no format.
GDPR Article 22
Right to human review of AI decisions. No evidence standard defined.
Work-for-Hire Doctrine
Corporate tools create ownership ambiguity. No individual protection tool.
ABA AI Guidance
Attorney supervision required. No methodology for documenting it.
NIST protects the system. IIA protects the audit. COSO protects the organization. Laws reference frameworks. Frameworks reference precedent. Right now there is no precedent for protecting the human in AI-assisted work. HAES is that precedent.

About the Standard

Built by a practitioner who needed it and found it did not exist.

HAES was not developed in a think tank or a law school. It was developed by a working GRC consultant who builds a consulting practice after hours, creates journalism content on a separate platform, and woke up one day and realized that everything he was creating with AI was unprotected — and that nothing in the existing governance landscape told him how to fix it.

The Human Authorship Evidence Standard is the first governance doctrine built from the human outward. It does not compete with NIST, ISO 42001, the IIA Standards, or the EU AI Act. It fills the gap every one of them leaves open at the individual human level.
